Grease, food residue, moisture, frequent surface contact, and the presence of food require careful consideration when selecting and using cleaning products.

Mixing a stronger solution than the label specifies can create unnecessary chemical exposure, residue, surface damage, or other problems.”
Dilution is therefore another important consideration.
Concentrated cleaners may require precise mixing with water. Too little product may affect cleaning performance, while excessive concentration can waste material and potentially create safety or surface concerns.
Automatic dilution systems, measuring devices, or pre-portioned products can help maintain consistent concentrations when appropriate for a particular facility.
Contact time is especially relevant for sanitizers and disinfectants.
Some products must remain visibly wet on a surface for a specified amount of time to achieve the results described on the label. Immediately wiping a product away may prevent the required contact period from occurring.
Ventilation and employee exposure should also be considered.
Commercial kitchens and food-service areas can contain confined spaces, hot equipment, steam, and limited airflow. Cleaning products may contain ingredients requiring ventilation, gloves, eye protection, or other precautions.
